Social media awash with Ekiti 2014 governorship election results, as INEC calls for caution
A 2014 INEC results which gives the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) victory in Ekiti is currently circulating online.The result is being passed for the ongoing 2018 gubernatorial election holding in Ekiti Saturday July 15 even as results are being expected.
However, a fact check of the result confirmed that it was the 2014 election result in the state. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned members of the public to be wary of such result circulating online.
The result showed that the All Progressive Congress (APC) had a total number of 120.433 in the election while the PDP scored 203.090.

INEC has also confirmed that its attention had been drown to the fake result of the election.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that the electorates in Ekiti state cast their votes to determine who succeeds Governor Ayo Fayose as the next ruler of the state.
Though, the overall atmosphere during the poll was peaceful, there were reports of monetary inducement and ballot snatching in a few polling units voting has been concluded in some polling units and vote counting has began.
Meanwhile, the PDP raised the alarm that some hired thugs reportedly beat up its supporters and snatched ballot boxes in the Ekiti governorship elections.
The party in a statement issued by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party also accused security agents of looking the other way while its members were allegedly being molested and harassed.
The statement read: “The entire world has witnessed the desperation of the APC to hijack the reign of governance in Ekiti state through terrorization, snatching of ballot boxes and ferocious assault on Ekiti people, who turned out peacefully to cast their votes.
