Ekiti residents are trooping out in their large numbers to cast their vote for their preferred candidate in today’s make or mar governorship election.
NAIJ.com reporters on ground are reporting massive movement of people trekking to long distance to get to their polling units.
This is despite the huge security deployment in the state which many public affairs analysts feared might deter residents from carrying out their franchise.

Observers say the large turnout and interest in the election by residents is due to higlly political charged environment and the political awareness of majority of the locals.
The two dominant political parties in the state – the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have also played their part in mobilising their supporters for the D-day.
Massive turnout has reported in almost all the local government areas in the state, from the state capital, Ado-Ekiti, to Ido Osi down to Ikere.
NAIJ.com reporters say polling units in most areas already had long queues of voters as early as 7am until the watch of security agencies.

Election materials are also said to be already arriving on time in most of the places visited so far.
The election is a horse-race between PDP’s Professor Olusola Eleka, who is the current deputy governor of the state and APC’s Dr Kayode Fayemi, the immediate past minister of solid minerals.
