Breaking: Troubled Plateau gets new police commissioner

Nigeria Police Force on Tuesday, June 26, announced the deployment of Bala Ciroma as a new commissioner of police of Plateau state where about 100 people were killed over in violence linked to herdsmen.

Premium Times reports that Ciroma took over from Undie Adie, who has been directed to report to the force headquarters in Abuja immediately.

The state police spokesperson, Terna Tyopev, who confirmed the arrival of the new commissioner of police, said handing over formalities by the two commissioners of police have taken place at the command’s headquarters in Jos.

Tyopev said: “Today 26th June, 2018, a new commissioner of police CP Bala Cioma has assumed duty as the commissioner of police, Plateau state command.”

The police and the air force, on Monday, June 25, announced the deployment of more personnel and aircraft to the state to prevent further violence.
